I didn't find any good daybed solutions in Maine but on the way back I stopped at the Cambridge Antique Market to pick up a little mirror that's been on my mind since my last visit. And there it was. Not exactly a daybed but an antique spool bed. The headboard and footboard are fairly close in height and it's a twin size so I can use a standard mattress. It's almost a daybed.
