The 1965 official guide to the county town of Shropshire was produced and published locally, rather than by one of the established publishers of such books. EDited by L. C. Lloyd, the guide was compiled by the District Chamber of Commerce in conjunction with the Borough Council in 1965. The cover is a glorious scene by Jack Merriott (1901 - 1968), a well known artist, of the Old Market Hall in the town and the artwork was originally commissioned by British Railways for use as a poster.
