Here is just a small selection of the mixed media self portraits produced by last years Year 7 in the Summer Term. The theme was 'Split Personality' and the pupils produced a portrait consisting of four different mediums (acrylic, pencil, fine-liner and collage). They also wrote in the background of two of the sections. The writing in pencil was that students' dislikes, whilst the writing in fine-liner was their loves. Block Prints - inspired by Pop 50s. Many ways to get hi contrast, but I did it w/ Photoshop CS5: 1. Take in well-lit & take all in same. Will make next steps efficient. 2. Desaturate to change image to B 3. Under “Image,” select “Adjustments” & scroll down to “Posterize…” 4. Play with the levels using Posterize option… 2 or 3 worked for me *I created an Action in Photoshop - made the process quicker. I will try to edit using Adobe Bridge bc it is more efficient for batch editing.

There are so many ways to teach Picasso portraits, I'm working with 3rd grade so I wanted to keep it simple. I'll show them some of Picasso's Portraits and then go into the project - demonstrating each step.
