Gianna McGrath uses her self-taught technique to create landscapes made entirely from wool

Simple written instructions on the basics of getting started with wool painting, also known as 2D needle felting, including the materials I personally enjoy using and would recommend.

Hand felted wool roving on felt background. Felted piece is 3" wide x 5" high, framed in a shadow box. Outside dimensions of the frame are 6" wide x 8" high and 1" deep. Stands alone on table or can be hung on the wall.

I often get told that my pictures are so lifelike that they think it’s a photo. That is the response that I hope for. In doing what I do, I hope to convince the observer that using wool instead of paint is a genuine art form and a wonderful medium to use, and not just a craft.
