Architectural Oddities - Nakagin Capsule Tower Built in just 30 days in the early 1970's, this was one of the first uses of capsule style living designed for permanent use. Tokyo's Nakagin Capsule Tower was located in the Ginza neighbourhood and built over the course of just 30 days in 1972, the housing block is considered a rare example of Japanese metabolism. Kisho Kurokawa, who died in 2007, originally designed the modular housing block to attract single businessmen looking for a compact and conveniently located apartment.
