Here we see a myogram displaying a muscle twitch. A typical twitch lasts about 7-100 miliseconds. After the onset of a stimulus, we see a latent period which is a slight delay of about 2 milliseconds. Once the elastic components are taut, we move into the contraction phase. This phase is shorter than the relaxation phase due to the quick uptake of Ca, by the sarcoplasmic reticulum. The decrease in calcium is shown as the relaxation phase.
