The cows enter the barn one at a time and each cow finds her favorite stanchion. The farmer then closes the stanchion at the top. The stanchions keep the cows in place while they are being milked. After a cow is milked, she is released and allowed to go back to the pasture. Every once in a while the milking parlor is white washed.
