Henri Matisse was a French artist born in 1869 who worked in drawing, printmaking, sculpture, and painting. He is best known for pioneering a new art form called "paper cutouts" where he used scissors to cut colored paper shapes and arrange them on the wall, which he called "painting with scissors."
