Lately, I have been overwhelmed with photos showing the devastation of other people's loss; their homes, family, possessions, pets, freedom, citizenship, privacy and on and on. It is unthinkable how I might survive when I have lost everything. There was a march in Dallas this morning for artists who had lost their work

Throughout my career I have been influenced by Japanese pattern design. The ebb and flow of their motifs mimic nature but don't replicate it. Many of these motifs follow a constellation pattern. Constellations of stars and the constellation of arranged patterns decorate the surfaces of pieces in my jewelry collection.

Cameos have held my attention for many years. The technique of traditional cameos involves relief carving into stone; usually a romantic image of a silhouette. I have wanted to include a modern version of this heirloom in my collection and did so two seasons ago. It occurred to me that if we carved an original image in wax, that we could make a reverse of that image into a mold and fill it with clay.
