Using pegs is great for lots of different Literacy provisions. Each peg has a different letter on - there is at least 2 of each letter with the more common letters being duplicated more often (vowels/s/t/n etc). For this activity, the children must identify what is in the picture, decide what the initial sound is, select the correct grapheme and the find the corresponding peg.
