About Puerto Rico. It's accurate, except for the name. The original name was Borikén, the natives' name for the Island. The Spaniards renamed it la Isla de San Juan Bautista, or the Island of St. John the Baptist. Since all Spanish ships, leaving America full of gold, had to stop in the island for staples for their long voyage to Spain, the name was eventually changed to Puerto Rico or Rich Port, for all the gold that arrived in the Island.
