Fishing Spider Also known as raft spider, dock spider and wharf spider. Clearly, this spider has something to do with water. Indeed, they spend their time at the edge of ponds and streams with a few of their legs stretched on the surface waiting for vibrations. They mostly eat insects but since they can also dive underwater, large ones also eat small fish and tadpoles.

Hobo spiders are difficult to differentiate from many wolf, fishing, and grass spiders in colorado. This species has chevron or v-shaped patterns pointing towards the head, which is also seen in many fishing spiders. Hobo spiders were once listed as medically significant. However, evidence collected over the years shows that their venom isn’t harmful to humans. You’ll experience pain and localized swelling when this spider bites you, but the venom doesn’t cause any serious damage.
