Lupe Vélez (July 18th 1908-December 14th 1944), a Mexican born stage and screen actress, comedian, singer and dancer. Lupe performed in Mexican vaudeville in the early 1920s and made her first Hollywood film appearance in a short film in 1927. By the end of the decade, she was acting in full length silent films mainly in leading roles and made the transition to sound films without difficulty. Lupe made over 40 films in all before her death by suicide at the age of 36.

I count half a dozen searchlights blazing along Hollywood Blvd in this circa late 1920s shot. Those two spires toward the left sat on top of the Warner Bros.
