Coney Island became famous for having several of the best-known amusement parks in the world. There was Steeplechase Park, Luna Park and Dreamland.

Swimming Pool, Parachute Jump, and Ferris Wheel in Steeplechase Park, Surf Avenue, Coney Island, NY. Based on the cars in the photo, I'd say this picture was taken sometime in the 1940s or 1950s. Sadly, these attractions have long been removed from the Coney Island skyline. In fact, Steeplechase Park is now the home of the Brooklyn Cyclone minor-league baseball stadium.
