Bird paper art

London-based artist Zack Mclaughlin constructs uncannily realistic birds made from wood and cut paper leaves. A lifelong fascination with the natural world lead Mclaughlin to explore different kinds of 3d model making, first starting with wire and then moving into the more realistic sculptures you see here. An early prototype paper bird for a new sculpture commission im working on. The piece is came together quickly after two day of playing around. The colours are do not reflect the what i will be using in the final piece, and are only there to provide contrast for the various sections that make up the bird. Just some remaking and refining to do then on the the final model. Watch this space!

Sarah Dennis is a paper artist and illustrator whose work combines traditional paper-cutting techniques with collage. Sarah worked with a range of clients including, BBC Four, Tatler, The Guardian and Gosh Arts. Sarah has also illustrated and authored a selection of books, including Papercut Woodland and Paper Plants published by Carlton Books.
