While it can be tempting to segment words in speech therapy, this may not be the best approach with students with childhood apraxia of speech. Apraxia therapy is all about movement and children with childhood apraxia of speech have difficulty moving from one sound to the next. So how do we work on helping children produce all the sounds in a word without segmenting? What strategies can SLPs use? Learn my favorite alternatives to segmenting and how to use them in Apraxia therapy here.
