I'm an admitted "crazy cat lady" so I take some comfort in the fact that it's not just me who likes to take ridiculous pictures of her cat. For instance, English photographer Harry Pointer, who in the 1800s took around 200 pictures of his "Brighton Cats" in somewhat ridiculous poses. A scan of a photo I found in one of my family photo albums from the 1920s . . . with the cat's name being Tim according to a note in the album. I thought the pic was interesting because it seems to be a studio shot based on the background. Since household cameras were uncommon at that time, maybe it wasn't unusal for people to take their pets to a photo studio to have their picture taken.
