Miroku in Koryuji temple, Kyoto. This statue comes from the 7th C and is carved in wood. Obviously it's an amazing thing, and is another Japanese national treasure. Miroku is both the buddha of the future and a bodhisattva in this world. He's popular with Shingon esoteric buddhism. The stupa on his head often holds a relic.
