Hibai (Japanese Apricot) Spring The Omiya Bonsai Art Museum, Saitama This scarlet apricot’s trunk is violently twisted as it rises, then sends out branches to the left and right as though it were dancing. This bonsai shows a form of a stern tree having lived a long life through the shari, dead whitewood, that shows through the rough bark near the base of the trunk.
I used to hike out into the woods and find small trees and transplant them and wire them and so on to try grow my own bonsai. I never had the patience and ended up killing the poor trees... some day though... BONSAI!!!
