Progress Monitoring Goals with Students
Progress monitoring is important for students because it keeps them motivated and helps them to see if they are getting closer to their goal. It’s important for counselors because it helps us to see if the work we are doing is helpful for students. If we can see that the student is not, in fact, closer to meeting their goal, then we know we need to change what we are doing to help them.
Social Skills Small Group Instruction
Get out of that social skill instruction rut. This lesson series is also great for special education teachers who have social emotional learning or behavioral goals to teach. I've created an 8 lesson group that uses an alien visiting from space to help kids to think about the importance of social skills and to practice using them.
Academic Achievement Groups
Last year, 69% of students in the group passed the end-of-grade test in the area they did not pass in previous year. Students rated the group in a range of 5.6-6.0 on a scale of 6 in helping them with goal setting, learning study tips and whether they would recommend this group to other students. This results are awesome and I continually, year after year, get similar results.
